A well-written LinkedIn profile is a logical extension of your resume, rather than its rehash. Recruiters use LinkedIn to cross reference resume applications received – i.e. to get a more in-depth understanding of your personality, to assess your potential fit within an organisation, etc. Think of your LinkedIn profile as a narrative-based insight into what makes you stand out, i.e. WHY someone should hire you. Meanwhile, a resume is a more factual, sharply-focused analysis of WHAT you do and HOW you do it and WHAT results you've specifically achieved.
